With over 35 years’ experience in government and the private sector, 15 years as a Chief Executive, Michael was Australia’s longest serving major events executive. Following 11 years as the Chief Executive of Queensland’s major events corporation, Michael was appointed to head up the Gold Coast’s bid for the 2018 Commonwealth Games before moving on to establish the Sunshine Coast’s regional tourism agency Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd.
He has played an integral role in the bidding for and securing many of Australia's major sporting and cultural events and served on numerous boards, committees and advisory panels, including being a member of Griffith University’s Industry Advisory Board.
As a Certified Practicing Accountant and Charter Company Secretary, Michael was also Assistant Secretary and forensic accountant with the Fitzgerald Commission of Inquiry and has extensive experience working within the legal and judicial system.
An experienced consultant, company director, auditor, financial manager and senior executive across a range of diverse businesses and industry sectors, Michael has worked with stakeholders at all levels of Government and the private sector to deliver real and practical outcomes.
